So after reading the veeam guide i created an application backup policy for testing purpose and seems to work well ( i have a problem with restore to figured out, seems that RMAN can't write in the ASM volume and so veeam fail to restore)īut i can't figured out in my case the difference between using a Backup Job with application aware processing and using RMAN to backup databases and the logs. I see now that i can use the Veaam Plugin for Oracle RMAN. I have always created a backup job for the DB machines and enabled the application-aware Oracle processing, deleting logs older than 48h and backing up archived logs every 30 minutes or 60 minutes. I have just upgrade veeam to v12 and we have VUL licensing. It's new and it's an upgrade from the previus DB machine that used only 1 non container db, oracle 11g and windows 2012R2. I have this oracle 19c machine that is composed by Windows server 2019, 3 non-container DB and one CDB+1 PDB for Oracle APEX.
